The world around me and me in the world

What is a scientific community?

A scientific community should consist of members who have a strong interest in science, and who state common aims of their scientific work. I expect an open mind and tolerance. A scientific community should be able to formulate its actions accurately and be open to discussions. But it must retain what makes science the discipline it is: high standards and freedom. In spite of all rationality and necessary scientific standards there should also be rights of intuition and flexibility in the standards. The maximum independence from the state, church, society and the economy goes without saying.

I feel myself as part of communities that follow this, independent of formal memberships. The communities below are communities I feel  associated with in this way. I invite all who share my understanding of a scientific community to contact me, to keep the community alive, to link up existing communities, and to grow...
